Dr. John R Lawless is the 2019 recipient of the State of Washington Governor’s Volunteer Service Award for his work with youth at the Cowlitz County Youth Service’s Center.
John R. Lawless is a recent graduate of Columbia Evangelical Seminary (2017) with the degree of Doctorate in Theology. His dissertation was entitled, “A Treatise on an Enhanced Understanding of God Using a Comparative Study of God’s Perceived Essence.”
Dr. Lawless’ B.Sc. in Religion with a minor concentration in Psychology is from Liberty University (2005), his MDIV is from Gateway Seminary (2009), and his MBA in Non-Profit Organization Management is from Corban University (2010). He received his ordination in 2012.
Dr. Lawless is an active member of First Baptist Church of Longview, WA. He teaches a small bible study for adults. He and his wife, Rita, are active in missions, participating in mission teams to Haiti and Thailand. Dr. Lawless has three grown children and eight grandchildren.
Dr. Lawless’ MDIV internship was conducted at FBC Longview as Director of Pastoral Care. His MBA internship was conducted at Three Rivers Christian School. Dr. Lawless holds memberships in Evangelical Theological Society (ETS), Evangelical Philosophical Society (EPS), and International Society of Christian Apologetics (ISCA).
